Step 1 Free talk
T: Good morning, boys and girls. Shall we begin our class?
Ok, I’m your new English teacher today and after this class, I want to go to Xinhua Bookstore. How can I get there from our school? Who can help me?

T: Thank you for showing me the way. Today we’ll go on learning: Unit 3 Asking the way (出示课题). First, let’s have a revision.
Step 2 Revision
1. T: How does Yang Ling ask the way?

2. Look and order
T: Here are some pictures, can you order them according the story time?

3. Try to say

Step 4 Cartoon time
1. Listen and answer
T: Sharon wants to go to the shoe shop.(Present the 1st picture of cartoon time) Bobby and Tina are reading a map now. Where do they want to go? Let’s listen.
S: City cinema.
2. Watch and answer
T: How many ways are there to get to the City Cinema? Let’s watch the cartoon.
S: There are three.
T: What are they?
S: By bus./By taxi./By metro.
3. Read and answer
T: Here are some other questions, please read the story again and underline the key words or sentences.
(1) Why do they take the taxi?
Because the bus is full. They can’t get on the bus.
(2) Do they get to the cinema by taxi? Why?
No, they don't. There are too many cars in the street.
(3) At last, how do they get to the cinema?
They get to the cinema by metro.
(4) Do they see the film? Why?
No, they don't. Because they're too late, the film is over.
4. Reading time
T: Ok, time for reading. Four students in a group, choose one way to read.
Pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation.

5. Conclude the reasons.
T: The film is over. What a pity! Can you conclude the reasons? You can use first, then, finally…
S: First, they want to go there by bus. But the bus is full. Then they have to go there by taxi. But there are too many cars in the street. Finally, they go there by metro. But it is late and the film is over.
T: All in all, Bobby and Tina can’t get to the cinema in time just because of the traffic jam.
Q: What can we do to stop the traffic jam?
